Time to Say Hairwell

Everything in life is a trade off. I will happily trade my hair for my life. But that didn't make it easy. I decided on diagnosis day that I was going to survive this, and I was going to make good things come of it - one of which was donating my hair. And I was going to do it right, on my terms, with a party.

So I met with Meghan, my amazing stylist of over 15 years and owner of LocalLuv Salon, to plan the event. She was on board right away, and closed her salon early to host my Hairwell Party!

After asking every one of my nurses and doctors multiple times "I will lose my hair, right?" and knowing that I didn't want to watch it clump out, I chose May 17th as the date to cut it. It was on day 12 of my first round of chemo, and two days before the shedding typically starts to become bad. So I grabbed my tribe, and we made a party out of it.

To ensure that I saved as much length for donation, Meghan put my hair in little pony tails to be cut individually.

I cut the first few pony tails, and then my tribe each cut one for me. At the end, I had a nice bunch of hair for donation.

It was a perfect evening. Turning something sad and scary into something fun and empowering was so important to me. I am so grateful for Meghan and her team, and my tribe who made it all happen on a random Tuesday night. Even Zach was there, remotely from California, but with me nonetheless.

And the icing on the cake was that Bobby joined me in baldness!

I love you all! And I couldn't have faced this with such fun and positivity without you!

Ta-da!
